Dear YMCA youth there is another possibility for you
The Kosovo Youth Exchange Program (KYEP) is a new collaborative effort funded by the U.S. Department of States Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by the Cleveland Council on World Affairs. This unique Exchange Program will award 16 high school students from Kosovo the opportunity to live and study in the United States for the 2012/2013 academic year. This trip will cover most student expenses including airfare to and from the US, within the US, will provide housing, a stipend for lunch, school supplies, and cultural activities.
Award recipients will live with host families, attend U.S. high schools and participate in leadership training. The exchange will encourage participants to take an active role in academic and civic life in their host communities and to develop a strong understanding of American culture. Participants will expand their leadership skills and be encouraged to share their own rich heritage.

On Thursday, August 12, the YMCA in Kosovo organized one day Festival event for Prishtina and Kosovo youth to celebrate the International Youth Day. The major goal of this festival event is to promote healthy lifestyle for Kosovo youth. More than 100 young volunteers were involved in preparation of the event and leading various artistic, sport, and intellectual activities. Prishtina youth was be able to participate in social games, street ball, try new sports such as Indiaca and different arts, see the magic tricks and different music performances, and learn about important social issues and trends.

Presentation of Kosovo culture at the International Youth Festival Ankara, Turkey (May 2010)
YMCA Kosovo was selected by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports to represent Kosovo at the International Youth Festival in Ankara from May 13-20, 2010. YMCA Kosovo young leaders presented various arts and held different workshops for more than 15,000 youth from 70 different countries around the world. After 3 months preparation period and auditions for Kosovo youth, young volunteers were performing activities such as: social dance theater, Latino/modern/step dance, traditional folk dress presentation and dance, painting, sculpture, photography, music band, traditional hand making, and pantomime.
General Annual Meeting and Election of YMCA Kosovo Board
On February 4, 2010, YMCA Kosovo held a General Annual Assembly Meeting in Hotel Grand, Prishtina.
Most of the Local YMCA Branches were present at the meeting and presented their Annual Reports to the National Association of YMCAs in Kosovo. The Plan for 2010-2011 has been presented to the assembly too.
Afterward, on request of the President of the Board and YMCA Kosovo Director, Dorina Lluka, the assembly has voted for new Board of Directors and three new members were elected unanimously.
YMCA Kosovo thanks all the participants of the General Annual Meeting and looks forward to continue making positive changes in Kosovo youth's lives.
Anti HIV Campaign – Promoting Healthy Lifestyle
The YMCA Kosovo has been working on a new image in Kosovo, to be known as an association that focuses on the promotion of healthy lifestyle. For this reason YMCA were actively involved in the Anti-HIV Campaign in Kosovo.
In December 2009 YMCA youth produced a infomercial clip which appeared for two weeks on the biggest TV station in Kosovo "RTK". See the video:
Also, in cooperation with Red Cross Kosovo, YMCA led the HIV street campaign and theater performance on the World AIDS Day, December 1, 2009. Leaders from YMCA trained young volunteers on Social Dance performance with the themes on HIV prevention and HIV stigma. The performance was held at the conference in Prishtina and has touched many doctors, Kosovo NGOs, and government officials who were present there.
YMCA leaders will continue addressing this issue and promoting healthy lifestyle.
Social Dance Theater at TT:09 Festival (Gjovik, Norway)
This team also performed at the international YMCA Festival in Norway in June 2009. YMCA Kosovo was leading workshops on social dance and step dance culture which were one of most popular tents at the TT:09 fest site.
Kosovo Youth Month (September 2009)
YMCA Kosovo theater was performing during Youth Month, September 2009, in 30 municipalities around Kosovo to pass the message to Kosovo youth on important social issues. This multiethnic group has an aim to present a model of multiethnic youth cooperation in Kosovo and the goal is to continue with a training of trainers and create in every municipality one social dance theater group.
YMCA Global Motion Group in Media (September 2009)
YMCA theater brought the new dance culture to Kosovo. The sounds produced by dancers bodies (hands, feet…) and improvised instruments, such as brooms and bins, became attractive to Kosovo media and companies.
