YMCA in Kosovo is a value based organization formed of volunteers that seek to share the ideal of building a human community of justice with love, peace and reconciliation for the fullness of life for all creation. It is a non-profit, apolitical, nongovernmental, nonreligious and inclusive youth association which aims to provide more opportunities and actively to interact with the youth in our local community. Inspired by the worldwide mission of YMCA as a viable answer to the needs of Kosovo, a National Office was established in August 2003. Afterwards programs in Prishtina and Peja started, and activities in Mitrovica, Ferizaj and Gjakova. Nowadays, YMCA Kosovo, as an national association, has 6 operating branches: Prishtina, Peja, Gjakova, Mitrovica, Y Media Club, and Y International. YMCA Kosovo also established organization programs such as Kosovo Special Olympics, Basketball Academy, Euro 26 and ISIC cards.
Through common work within various programs which focus primarily on the needs of young people, we strive to overcome prejudices and poverty, to improve the quality of social life, and to build a common European awareness. Our values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Caring inspire us to serve and change the world in a better. YMCA Kosovo operates under the umbrella of European Alliance of YMCAs. The European Alliance of YMCAs (www.ymcaeurope.com), with its headquarters in Prague, is the umbrella organization for all national movements in Europe and is one of the continents in the World Alliance Of YMCA. Respecting and valuing the independence and diversity of all Member Movements, the EAY actively facilitates a process of integration of all National YMCA's into a European YMCA network of Movements which offers community, exchange of ideas and mutual service among National Movements.
